In-n-Out: Oral
Health and the Digestive Tract
Course Description:
The
human digestive system is essentially one long
tube, mouth to anus. The oral cavity, as the
portal of entry, is inter-related to multiple
disease processes that can occur throughout the
rest of the gastro-intestinal tract. Vast
populations from our patients to current pop icons
are diagnosed with these conditions.
This course will cover these unique oral
relationships and GI issues such as, cancers along
the GI tract, and benign GI issues and processes
such as laparoscopic band, gastric bypass, celiac
disease, gluten intolerance and irritable bowel
syndrome. Most of these have significant
implications for the dental professional.
